When is the best time to travel to Cusco?

Dry season (May to September): The favorite among travelers

If this is your first time in Peru, this is undoubtedly the most recommended time to visit.

During these months, Cusco offers:

* Sunny days and clear skies

* Ideal weather for Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley

* Excellent conditions for trekking and outdoor tours

* The best opportunities for unforgettable photographs

Temperatures:

* Daytime: 64–72 °F

* Nighttime: can drop to 32 °F (especially in June and July)

Important information: This is high season, so tickets to Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail sell out weeks or months in advance. Planning with a travel agency makes all the difference. June is also the month of Inti Raymi, Cusco’s most important festival, an ancient celebration that is unique in the world.

Mid-season (April and October): the best-kept secret

Many experienced travelers consider these months to be the perfect balance between climate, price, and tranquility.

Why choose this time of year?

* Fewer tourists at the main attractions

* More affordable prices for hotels and tours

* Stable weather with little rain

* Green and vibrant landscapes

Ideal for couples, cultural travelers, and those seeking a more relaxed and authentic experience.

Rainy season (November to March): Cusco is greener and more affordable

Although it tends to be less promoted, this season is also an excellent option for certain travelers.

Advantages:

* Fewer crowds

* Better deals and promotions

* Intensely green nature

* More personalized service

January and February are the rainiest months, but remember that Machu Picchu is open all year round, and the Inca Trail only closes in February for maintenance. So it’s perfect for flexible travelers, long stays, or those looking to travel to Cusco on a tighter budget.
